Blonde to Two-Tone to Black: THE JOURNEY

Gina Bassi (@hairbygeemarie) of Osio Salon in Rockville Centre, NY, says that  "being a hairstylist is one of the most rewarding jobs. People come to you to make them feel beautiful about themselves, whether it's their wedding day or just having a bad day. Great hair makes you feel awesome and we get to be the ones who give it to them!"

When we saw this transformation on Instagram we wanted to know more. "I've been coloring my client for about a year now," Bassi says. "The first time she came to me she had about 2 1/2 inch natural level 6 - 7 regrowth." Here Bassi shares the journey from blonde to 2 tone to black which took place over one year and several sessions:

FIRST SESSION, 1 year ago:
Foil highlight 1/2 head using Goldwell Oxycur Platin + 20 volume. Process for about 20-30 minutes lifting to a level 10. Shampoo and tone with Goldwell Colorance 10P for 10 minutes.

SECOND SESSION:
Root touch-up of highlights and tone again with Goldwell Colorance 10P for 10 minutes. Then add depth to the strands under the rounds with Goldwell Topchic -10 volume 7KG. Process for 30 minutes.

SESSIONS IN BETWEEN:
"All her sessions in between leading up to her new change have all been just highlighting her regrowth and keeping her as blonde or even blonder!" Bassi says. "All that we changed was her underneath formula, we switched it up a couple of times from 7KG to 5BG to 5VR to 5BP, all Topchic Goldwell with 10 volume. "She loved having the dramatic difference of blonde and a darker color underneath."

MOST RECENT SESSION:
"She begged me to go black," Bassi says. "I was a little hesitant because I knew if we go black it will take such a long time to get back to this beautiful blonde, if she ever wanted too! But I finally gave in! Why not have some fun? Since she was so blonde I knew just putting color over it would not take evenly. We needed multiple steps."
