Miriam Ortega has been challenged with some dramatic color corrections, but she says "This color correction was the most invasive, yet precise color correction I have done."
Client Pamela came in with a "hair disaster. She literally had the 90's skunk blonde pieces with black color throughout the rest of her hair. Her bleached pieces where obviously fried." According to Ortega, "Pamela said she literally wore her hair in a bun for 4 months because she hated her hair. She came in begging for a new look, ideally an ombre." Instead, Ortega went for "sombre" via balayage with hazelnut and soft almond tones.
Here she offers the HOW TO:
Step 1: Foil the bleach blonde pieces in Moroccanoil deep conditioning treatment (to protect the hair from the stripping/ lightening process.)
Step 2: Appl y 5 ounces Redken Flash Lift Lightener with equal parts 20 volume developer , starting from two inches from scalp to the ends of hair shaft.
Step 3: Process with heat for 9-12 minutes.
Step 4: Apply 3 ounces of Redken Flash Lift lightener with equal parts of 10 volume developer from the new growth.
Step 5: Process for 7-9 minutes with no heat. Rinse and shampoo the hair, then blow dry completely.
Step 6: Tease the hair from the crown to the nape.
Step 7: Apply 4oz of 6W (Wella Demi-perm "Dark Sand") and equal parts 10 volume from new growth , through the teased parts, down to the entire hair shaft.
Step 8: Place the hair under a processing cap and process without heat for 20-25 minutes.
Step 9: Rinse, shampoo and apply Moroccanoil deep conditioning treatment through the hair
Step 10: Process for 10 minutes and then rinse from the hair.
Style using Kenra Blow Dry Spray throughout and then TIGI Bed Head After Party Smoothing Cream for shine.
