In this how-to, featured in the April issue of MODERN SALON, Keratin Complex's International Artistic Director for Color Deborah Gavin creates a dimensional blonde that showcases the results achievable through the color line.
“Who says dimension in a blonde has to be boring and always brown? This model is an example of using a cool slate to create dimension, while enhancing the cool tone of our blonde canvas,” Gavin says.

Natural Level: 6 with grown-out highlights Formula 1: Keratin Complex It’s a Blonde Thing Lightening System + 20-volume developer
Formula 2: Keratin Complex Color Therapy Demi Glaze 30 ml./1 oz. Clear + 30 ml./1 oz. 10V + 60 ml./2 oz. Demi Glaze Activator
Formula 3: Color Therapy Kerahold 27 ml. 10VP + 3 ml. 1N + 45 ml. Zero Lift Developer
Step 1: Apply Formula 1 to compact, layered foils, placed throughout the head, except on previously created highlights. Process to Level 10, rinse and shampoo.
Step 2: Working off the part, take 1-inch subsections or micro slices through the rounds of the head. Apply Formula 2 near the base, from the scalp to about an inch down. Tilt the tint brush in various angles as you apply Formula 1. Then, apply Formula 3 from the midlengths and ends of the subsections.
Step 3: Apply Formula 2 to all the remaining hair. Process for 35 minutes.
