Amanda Joseph (@thehearsalon) of Mia Bella Salon, Seattle, WA, had a challenge. "This client had YEARS of black dye built up on her hair," says Joseph. A friend joined the client and tried to strip the color as best they could. Needless to say, when she came in, her hair was so many colors. STEP 1: "Foilage" blonde throughout the hair using Keune cream developer with 30 volume, blended with Olaplex. "Her hair was not in the best condition so safety was my main concern. Respect the process!!"

STEP 2: To the remaining hair left out of the foils, apply: top: 5nw Rusk with 10 volume developer. Mid shaft: 6nw Rusk with 15 volume developer. Ends: equal parts 5nw and 6nw with 15 volume developer.

STEP 3: Process with heat for 20 minutes. Shampoo and apply step 2 Olaplex. Deep condition for 20 minutes, with heat, using AG Keratin Repair.

"Her goal is to eventually have a soft blonde sombre via balayage. In order to balance everything out, maintain the integrity of her hair as well as lighten it, I chose this method. As all stylists know, this path can be a process but the progress is worth it if you are patient!"
