Julie Mueller (@spectraltones) of Stay Gold Salon in Fullerton, California (@staygoldsalon), specializes in vivid colors and precision cuts. She got an opportunity to put that expertise to work with guest Elise.
"Elise arrived with faded vivid colors, 1 inch level 1 roots and about 4 inches of a brassy faded color," says Mueller about the look in the before shot. "She has hair extensions and does not properly maintain them. She came to me with matted hair that took about 30 minutes to detangle before I could even start her color. She is also an avid kickball player and the sun bleaches out whatever color we apply to her natural hair."
Here Mueller shares how she turned this mess into a pretty purple melt:
Step 1: Lighten the level 1 regrowth with L'Oreal Platine Bleach with 40 volume developer with Olaplex Step 1. Process for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Shampoo and dry the hair. Apply Pravana Vivids Violet on top of hair and melt into Pravana Locked In Violet to the mids. To the ends, melt into a mixture of Pravana Vivids Blue and Pravana Locked In Blue.
Step 3: Process for 25 minutes under heat.
Step 4: Shampoo and apply Olaplex step 2. Dry and style with Pureology Color Fanatic Spray and Pureology AntiSplit Blowdry.
