The Public School Spring/Summer '14 collection that debuted at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was all about MEN. And designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne looked to Aveda Global Styling Director, and 2013 NAHA Hairstylist of the Year, Allen Ruiz to create the angular look with blunt lines.

"Tell your female clients that they should book their boyfriends an appointment with you," Ruiz says. "They will go, and they will LOVE it. Men don't want to admit it but they, too, love being pampered."
Here's how to get the look that debuted at Public School.
Step 1: Dampen hair. Create a close, clean cut on the sides and back of the head, leaving the top long.
Step 2: Work styling product through wet hair with fingers to create hold. For fine hair, use Aveda Men Pure-Formance Liquid Pomade for moderate hold and shine; for thick or coarse hair, use Aveda Men Pure-Formance Firm Hold Gel for maximum hold and control.
Step 3: Dry the hair in sections by brushing back and forth across the head with a brush, following with a blow dryer. This will help shape the hair to the head.
Step 4: Add weightless texture and shine with Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. Brush hair forward, creating a blunt fringe line above the brow.
Step 5: To further shape hair to the head and reduce extra volume, place a hair net with elastic removed over the hair and blow dry until the net warms. Remove the net once the net cools.
Step 6: To finish, polish the hair using a sheer mist of Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine applied with an Aveda Uruku Bronzing Brush. Set the look with Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray for an all day hold with humidity defense.
Pro Tip: Cleanse and moisturize hair before styling with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Shampoo and condition, refresh and add shine to hair with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Conditioner.
