FASHION WEEK: Victory Roll at Jenny Packham

The Jenny Packham Fall 2012 collection pays homage to the alluring film noir starlets of the 1940s. Lead Hair Stylist Leonardo Manetti recreated the “victory roll” style of the period, named for the V-shape of the style created when smooth hair is rolled around a foam piece (known as a “hair rat”) to provide structure and volume.

  2. Spray each section with L'Oréal Professionnel Volume Expand Volumizing Leave-In Spray and blow-dry smooth with a flat brush.

  5. from each temple to the center of the crown.)

  6. Spray each front section with L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium 2 hairspray and tease to create volume and texture.

  7. Comb the top front section forward until smooth. Using a pliable foam roller, or hair rat, wrap the hair up and over the foam, rolling the hair over and under as you go, until you reach the forehead.

  8. Bend the roller to create a dip in the victory roll shape at the center of the forehead. Secure with pins.

  9. Bring the right side of the rolled up and over to the left, covering any gaps at the front; secure with pins. Repeat for left side (up and over to right).

  10. Spray the back ponytail with hairspray and tease generously.

  11. Cover the teased ponytail with a hairnet and secure with pins.

  12. Roll the hair contained in the net up and under to create a second victory roll in a wide U-shape.

  13. Finish off with L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium 3 hairspray to maintain the shape of the entire look.
