Formula How-To: Sea-Foam Green to Rose Gold

There's a bit of a double-edged sword aspect to all those fun, fashion colors you've been painting on the past year or two. On the plus side, they probably spark some serious creativity within your I've-been-coloring-brunettes-and-blondes-for-years soul, but on the less savory side, variegated color can be a pain to remove and shift.

Such was the predicament with Tim Maguire's client at Aurelio Salon in Howell, New Jersey.

"This particular client was quite the challenge," Maguire says. "She came in with about four inches of new growth with old highlights on her ends that were faded a mint green. Months before, she had colored her hair herself to make it lavender, and the green was the faded-out result."

Ouch.

But where there's a will, there's a way.

GET THE COLOR: FROM AT-HOME FADE TO ROSE GOLD

Formulas
A: Goldwell Oxycur Platin Lightening Powder 20vol
B: Toner 10ml 10BB Goldwell Colorance 40 ml Colorance Core Lotion
C: Goldwell Elumen 30ml GB@9, 10ml Clear, 2ml GK@all, 1 ml PK@all

STEP 1: Touch up highlights with Formula A and process. Rinse and shampoo with Goldwell Dualsenses Fade Stop Shampoo.

STEP 2: Loosen up existing color on ends by applying Goldwell Silk Lift for 15 minutes under the dryer.

STEP 3: Tone with Formula B for 10 minutes. Rinse and shampoo with Goldwell Elumen Wash.

STEP 4: Glaze with Formula C and process for 15 minutes under the dryer, then rinse until water runs clear.

STEP 5: Shampoo with Goldwell Elumen Wash again, and then apply Elumen Lock and process 5 minutes. Rinse and condition with Goldwell Elumen Treat.
