A gathering of more than 1,000 hairstylists, celebrities, members of the press and local and state government dignitaries were on hand, Thursday, to cut the ribbon at CHI USA, a brand new manufacturing facility in Houston. Texas Governor Rick Perry did the honors as Farouk Systems Founder and CEO Farouk Shami looked on, surrounded by members of this staff.

Said Perry, "Today we are celebrating a leader who is moving jobs from another country to Texas, where CHI already employs hundreds of Texans. On behalf of those who will end up on your payroll, thank you for helping your state's economy keep growing in these challenging economic times."

The day began with limos pulling up to the red carpet at the bright new building, constructed specifically to house production of the popular CHI thermal styling tools. Shami promises to create 1,000 jobs before the end of the year, and up to 5,000 jobs over the next three-to-four years. "How are we going to pay for health care, education, national security," he asked the cheering crowd, "unless we bring jobs back to America?" He went on to challenge other businesspeople to follow his lead and create the jobs that will restore vigor to the economy.

As songs like "Born in the USA" filled the room, guests heard tributes from local and state government officials, including Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison who thanked Farouk for bringing jobs to America and helping thousands of Texans realize the American dream, much like Farouk himself, an immigrant from Palestine, has. And Houston Mayor Bill White commented, "I'm proud to honor the hardworking men and women of Farouk Systems."

CHIShow

There was plenty of Texas barbecue and music in the mix, plus appearances by Miss USA, Miss Texas USA, the Houston Texas Cheerleaders and the Farouk styling teams of Leonel & Ozzie and Joe Anthony & Rocky.

As the day came to an end, a clearly proud Shami noted, "We are all equal before God and we all have an equal opportunity to succeed. At Farouk Systems, we believe in human rights, liberty and the future of America. Today I'm surrounded by my friends and my family and this is the happiest day of my life."
