Recently styled by celebrity stylist Giannandrea for the recent premiere of G.I. Joe Retaliation, Adrianne Palicki’s textured half up/half down updo was a style to remember!

TRY IT: “For the premiere, I started with wet hair and applied ECRU Marine Styling Balm to the whole head, combed through it all the way and rough dried all the hair upside down and side to side and backwards to create volume. After the hair was dry, I brushed all the way through and backwards with a flat brush,” says Giannandrea. “Then, I applied a combination of protein oil and texturizing balm into my palms and ran my fingers through the whole head to create shine separation and strong texture in a backward motion.”

From there, Giannandrea took a 1/2–inch curling iron and waved the whole head using hair spray. Then, she took bobby pins and from the top started to twist little sections back behind the ear and top back of head. “Make sure the pins are not showing. Lock in place the pins by twisting and hiding them.” Let hair flow down in the back leaving the texture soft and keeping the separating part showing on the sides.
