CAST THE MODEL WHO FITS YOUR VISION: “The most important thing to do when casting your model is make sure it fits your vision from your storyboard concept,” says Dimitrios. Do not compromise, this is your opportunity to bring your work to life!
GET THE WORD OUT THERE: “Some things to remember when casting is you want to get the word out there,” says Dimitrios. “Use Facebook, contact modeling agencies, look at Model Mayhem—the more models you have at the casting the more opportunities you’ll have in creating your vision. Make sure to cast a model you’re 100 percent happy with—do not compromise the look at all. You got inspired by something, you created a storyboard, so choose a model who fits your vision."
TAKE PICS! "Remember, during the casting, to take snapshots of the models you are considering," Dimitrios says. "This is your opportunity to really see how the models look on film."
HAVE THEM WALK "Another idea that works well at the model casting is to have the models walk for you. Yes, walk," DImitrios says. "You’ll really see their personalities shine through and see how they’ll perform for you in front of the camera."
DISCUSS THE FINAL LOOK: "Finally, it's absolutely crucial that you discuss the final look you're going for with your models," Dimitrios says. "Go through your planned hair cut, hair color, and make sure your model is comfortable with the your ideas before you cast them. No surprises."
