Emily Johnson (@eljohnson14) of Southern Roots Salon & Spa, Chattanooga, TN, created a BEAUTIFUL dimensional blonde that earned more than 6,700 "likes" within one day when posted on MODERN's Instagram page. We tracked down Johnson to learn more: "My client showed me a picture of a client I had previously done, a heavy blonde, and told me she wanted the same 'white-er' blonde but with a different base that had a gold hue." Johnson added more dimension to accomplish her goal and the request.
Here she offers the HOW TO:
Step 1: Using Redken Flash Lift with 40 volume developer (blended with Olaplex which knocks it down to 30 volume), foil the hair with the following pattern: 3 slices, a weave, then a thin piece of natural.
Step 2: Return to the natural hair and apply Pravana 8.3L Light Copper Blonde with 20 volume.
Step 3: Rinse and tone with Redken Shades EQ 9T, 2oz 9t 1/2 oz clear 1 1/2 processing solution.
Step 4: Process for 5 minutes, rinse and then apply Olaplex, number 2. Rinse and shampoo.
