Aloxxi platform artist Candace Bossendorfer wants to bring hair color into focus this season, but in a subtle way. The focus of this color design is the pop of cherry along the rounds of the head. “Even though this is a strong shade, it is made more traditional with the surrounding classic base. It’s a nice little surprise and perfect for the holiday season.”

Aloxxi platform artist Candace Bossendorfer wants to bring hair color into focus this season, but in a subtle way. Embracing the Aloxxi color personality concept, Bossendorfer uses color morphing to blend and tone to create. The focus of this color design is the pop of cherry along the rounds of the head. “Even though this is a strong shade, it is made more traditional with the surrounding classic base. It’s a nice little surprise and perfect for the holiday season.”
STEPS:
STEP 1: First decolorize the hair. Blend Aloxxi Blue Lightener powder with 10-volume developer. Apply from midlengths to ends to address color build up. Watch the color change, looking for a red tone. (Color shifts after approximately 10 minutes.)
STEP 2: At the bowl, add water to dilute and emulsify all the hair with a mixture of shampoo. Work through watching for the preferred balance. Rinse and use Color Lock.
STEP 3: Apply a barrier cream along the hairline.
STEP 4: Continue on dry hair. Section in three: below occipital, along the rounds and one above the rounds (this section is slightly asymmetrical). Begin the color application at the nape: Aloxxi Tones (a demi) 2 parts 3N and 1 part 1N with 7-volume developer. Apply from base to ends.
STEP 5: Cover the section with foil and clip to secure.
STEP 6: In the next section, along the rounds, apply a cherry shade: Tones 5R with equal parts R Gem with 7-volume developer.
STEP 7: Blend forward with the same formula. Apply from base to ends and cover with foil.
STEP 8: Drop down the top section. Using the same formula used in the nape, apply from base to ends.
STEP 9: Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. Rinse section by section with cool water and follow with Color Lock.
STEP 10: Set the hair with a 1-inch curling iron. Wrap directionally, leaving out ends for a modern fi nish.
