"My guest Ali is the one who loves being the first one to try out my new color ideas and experiments and has always supported me in my career by letting me express myself creatively," says Christian Ariel (@christianxariel), an artist at iStyleXG of Lutz, Florida. "She tells me all the time how the one thing she loves about being my guest is that all she has to do is sit down and doesn't have to explain anything and she just lets me do my thing and always ends up loving it."
Ali and Ariel decided to dive into some new fantasy colors. "I told her about it and she was on board, as always. We've done anything from pink to purple to magenta, sea foam green to Aqua blue and teal, but she felt like this time around she felt more like herself with the purple and teal but with a dark base so her regrowth wouldn't be as noticeable. We went with that color scheme and color melted a permanent color base with her favorite fantasy color flavors. I think it fits her creative lifestyle and her petite goth fairy image quite well."
Ariel adds that "All my hair colors are done with free form painting, all my haircuts are sculpted visually with basics of hair cutting in mind. I've been in love with art since my earliest life memory and have tried all avenues of it at least once." In addition to hair, Ariel makes music for the band LifeEternal, writes poetry and literature, and works in graphic design and video production. "I live my life firmly believing in #MusicAndArtUntilDeathDoUsPart."
Here Ariel offers the HOW TO for this, the most recent color design for guest Ali:
Base formula: Paul Mitchell The Color 1N+1A equal parts + 6 Blue Color Shots+ 20 Clear Developer.
Mid length formula: 1oz Kenra Violet + .5oz Pravana Wild Orchid (mix until desired tone)
End formula: 1oz Kenra Teal + .2oz Kenra Blue
Step 1: Apply base formula like a retouch and feather out about an inch down so you don't create a hard line.
Step 2: Apply mid length to ends with Paul Mitchell Dual Purpose Lightener and 20 volume to achieve a level 9, color melting base formula with the lightener. Cover each section with a foil to incubate heat.
Step 3: Process base and lightener for 35 minutes. Rinse, shampoo with Paul Mitchell Super Strong Shampoo to replenish moisture and strength lost in the lightening service.
Step 4: Apply mid length formula just above the base formula, then color melt end formula with the mid length.
Step 5: Process for 20 minutes under a processing cap and heat. Rinse and condition with Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde conditioner.
Haircut achieved with: a Donald Scott NYC Twist Razor and Carving Comb Styling products used: Paul Mitchell Fast Form, Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair, Hot Off The Press, Spray Wax
