It's not secret that we're tremendously impressed with Sema Conde. We featured her as one of our "ones to watch" on Instagram, and if you haven't followed her yet, you're missing out on some top-notch hair color tips. Plus, she's wonderful at responding to questions, so ask away!

Recently she posted a color fix on her own mother, who no longer wanted to color hair hair (it can be exhausting, you know) and asked her daughter to strip the color. Sema Conde has been coloring her mom's hair every two weeks for years; there are definitely perks to being a colorist's momma!

GET THE COLOR: NATURAL WHITE-GRAY

STEP 1: Three rounds of bleaching with Olaplex Goldwell Silk Lift
First round: 30vol
Second round: 20vol and 30vol on the dark parts
Third round: 10vol to make it pop

STEP 2: Tone with 9v Redken Shades EQ and clear 5 minutes, but keep an eye on it.

STEP 3: Tone again with purple shampoo.

PRO TIP: COLOR CONSISTENCY

Conde says the key here is "even consistency and saturation." That will keep your color even. She does this by applying measured bleach to foil before placing it on a section. This ensures hair will be completely saturated. "Small tips put into practice daily create huge differences!" Conde says.
