Anastasia Amico, artistic color designer forJohn Amico, says her client Rashonda "wanted a vibrant change," which is more or less what every colorist wants to hear. You've got to flex your creative muscles once in a while!

The task at hand wasn't easy, though, as Rashonda had pre-lightened hair that had been subjected to several semi-permanent box colors. The result was a level 5 in the front mixed with a faded green and blonde, and a level 3 throughout the crest, back and nape.

GET THE COLOR: VIBRANT RED CURLS

STEP 1: Shampoo with John Amico Chlorimed clarifying shampoo, then apply John Amico Vanish color remover (free of ammonia, peroxide and bleach) away from the scalp to the ends. Process with a cap under the dryer for 20 minutes.

STEP 2: Shampoo with Chlorimed two more times.

STEP 3: Use a mixture of John Amico Power Blue Bleach 30g + John Amico Color Care Shampoo 100g + 20vol enzymes 60g. Apply away from the scalp, starting at the nape, and process for 15 minutes and then apply to the base area. Rinse and shampoo to achieve an all-over level 7.

STEP 4: Use new John Amico Exclusive Cream Color Signature Silk Shades (ammonia, paraphenylenediamine and resorcinol free). Use Red Mixxer /55 + 20vol (1:1.5 ratio). Process for 30 minutes and then rinse, shampoo and condition with John Amico Bominoil treatment and Bio-Complex hydration mask. Finish with a cool rinse.

STEP 5: Finish with John Amico Bio-Complex Reconstructing leave-in conditioner and SS Fluid for moisture and shine.
