Alyssa Wiener (@lysseon) of STYLIN' Norwalk, CT. contacted us with this amazing transformation, asking if we were interested.
Um, YES! Thank you!
Here she shares the story of this transformation for client Micaela which took several visits:
"The first step back in October was to determine how to get her to the white color she wanted," says Wiener. "She's between a natural level 4/5. We decided to go with the Paul Mitchell platinum card technique."
Step 1: First appointment OCTOBER 2014: Mix Scruples Power Blonde with Olaplex, starting with 30 volume and increasing to 40 in one inch sections, set in foils.
Step 2: Process her midshaft and ends first until pale yellow. Place the lightener on root area for half an hour.
Step 3: Tone with Scruples True Integrity 2oz Demi 1/2oz 10A. This left the hair blonde, but not the desired platinum.
Step 4: DECEMBER 2014: "I decided to try a different bleach for her regrowth. I used Wella Blondor extra cool with a mix of 30 and 40 volume for 45 minutes.
Step 5: Tone with Scruples Hi Definition 12V and 10 volume which didn't do much. "I reverted back to the toner from the first time. It was much better than the first appointment, but still yellow."
Step 6: MARCH 2015: "Our next appointment I decided to go out of my comfort zone and use 2 things I never used before. I first cut her hair which is very short in the back to get the overprocessed hair gone and just to be able to work fresh. Cutting it first was definitely key."
Step 7: Apply Schwarzkopf BlondMe 9+ with 40 volume to the roots. "I like this lightener because it's very blue based."
Step 8: Process for about 45 minutes.
Step 9: Blend Scruples Blue Oil with 30 volume and Olaplex to run through her ends to kick out any remaining yellow.
Step 10: Tone with Goldwell Colorance 10 volume for 5-10 minutes. "It turned to the perfect icy white."
Going platinum, especially at such a dark naturals level, is definitely a process. Patience is a virtue! And I am so happy to have figured out the puzzle to this icy white for my client. Hair is the crown you never take off!
