Kimberly Handy (@Khimandi) of Khimandi Hair Studio, Arlington, Texas, has a special client who looks great in just about any style. When we saw the latest transformation, we asked for more info. Handy obliged:
"I wanted to transform her flirty pixie and add some edge," says Handy. "She usually wears a short wispy pixie with lots of texture, but we wanted to do something bold. I wanted to give her an edgy yet flirty look that she could also be very classy. She has never worn her tresses this short before, but we love it! It's very different for her and she's so cute with it."
The transformation took place when this client came in for her regular appointment. "It was relaxer touch up and demi day so I decided, obviously with her consent, to totally transform her," says Handy. "I did scissor over comb on all her sides for a short crisp look, which totally differs from the natural wispy nape area that she usually wears, leaving her with a disconnected full fringe. We totally stepped out of her comfort zone with this new look. I did lots of vertical lifting over the crown area with point cutting to remove the bulk. I was able to create a choppy yet soft look that she can wear straight, curly or feathered!"
For the new shade, Handy had fun with her existing color. "She was pre-lightened in the fringe months ago, and I regularly apply a demi to cover her gray. To add some life and vibrancy, I applied Pravana 4MR throughout the hair. It pops in the fringe." Adds Handy, "We are both in love with the new look!"
