Andie Jones (@andiejoneshair), a San Diego-based hairstylist specializing in balayage, creative color and color corrections, decided to open her first salon Raven & Sage Collective (@ravenandsage) in 2015. "We are a small group of passionate driven hairstylists. It's important to us, as a team, to stay on top of our education. We want to always be able to bring the latest trends and techniques to our clients."
Here Jones shares the details for this fun makeover:
"My client Blayke has tons of beautiful wild texture. She was ready to go for it and brought me some really cool inspiration pics. I love when clients bring me pictures of what they want. Blayke had colored her own hair at home with box color in a shade of brown. We had that to work through that in order to get her to her dream color. Because of the thickness and texture, there were a lot of inconsistencies in her color with missed spots everywhere. This is when we began our 5 hour color process from this at home dye job to what I call 'Beautiful Sunset Hair.'"
Step 1: To lift evenly, apply to the roots: Redken Flash Lift equal parts with 30 volume.
Step 2: Once finished, return to the back and apply the mixture with 40 volume from mids to ends, placing each section in foil for maximum lift. ("Also make sure to adjust which lightener mixture is used at missed spots from when she had colored her own hair.")
Step 3: Lift to an even pale yellow level 9. Rinse thoroughly and shampoo with Bumble & Bumble Gentle Shampoo. Dry completely.
Step 4: Apply Pravana Vivids Neon Orange to the roots feathering down for a smooth transition into the next color.
Step 5: From mids to ends apply Pravana Vivids Neon Yellow and Magenta. ("I like to get creative and alternate my colors.")
Step 6: Process for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water to lock in the color. Layer in Bb Hairdressers Leave-in with some Bb thickening hairspray.
