Joie Wallace (@Joiewallacehair), an Artistic Educational Director for Sessions By Joie, based at Flawless Hair Salon, Hampton, Virginia, educates and trains professional hair stylists in everything from basic to advanced hairdressing, focusing on the art of hair coloring, hair cutting, and cutting edge styling. "Although my clientele consists of a majority of African American customers, I pride myself on being a diversified and multicultural hair designer," Wallace says.
MODERN was impressed by this makeover and asked for more details. Here Wallace shares the correction on this hair that was previously lifted to golden blonde with 3 inches of new growth.
STEP 1: Apply a small amount of Olaplex No #2 on ends of hair to protect previously lighten hair.
STEP 2: Apply Wella Blondor Multi Blonde Bleach with Koleston Perfect 30 Volume 9% Cream Developer (Equal parts) with 1/4 Olaplex number 1. Process for 30 minutes.
STEP 3: Lift to a golden blond. Rinse and allow the hair to dry under a warm dryer.
STEP 4: Add a color mixture of equal parts Koleston Special Blonde 12/96 and Special Blonde 12/61 and Wella - Koleston Perfect Creme Developer 20 Volume 6%. Process for 20 minutes. NOTE: During the last 5 minutes of processing, smooth color to the ends for a more blended color or even tones from roots to end. Rinse and towel dry.
STEP 5: Tone with a mixture of Wella Color Touch 10/0 and 10/6 both (equal parts) with Wella Emulison 6 volume. Process for 10 minutes. Rinse until the water runs clear. Add Wella Post Service for 5 minutes and Olaplex #2. Rinse, shampoo, condition and dry the hair.
