Joseph Cuozzo (@joseph_cuozzo) a Master Color Expert with Wella Professional and owner of Cuozzo Studio for Hair in Madison, NJ and Oranjestad, Aruba says, "This client had very fragile hair. When she came to us her hair was very over processed. I decided to foil back-to-back instead of a traditional double process because I really wanted control. There could be no overlapping.
"I needed a level 10 to achieve her inspiration photo, which was actually one of my 'Frozen Blonde' clients that she saw on my Instagram page. She also mentioned having a sensitive scalp so applying the lightener in foils and then choosing Wella Professionals Innosense Hair Color was a no brainer. Innosense does not contain pPD or pTD. It has the new ME+ dye molecule which provides a reduced risk of having a reaction. I have had a lot of success with this line. I have been able to color some of my clients that had to stop their single process color because they had developed an allergic reaction to hair color. For more mild cases we have used Wella Innosense with no problem."
Products used - Wella Professionals, Sebastian Professional
Blondor Cream with 20 Volume Developer.
Wella Professionals Innosense Hair Color with Pastel Developer.
Care and Styling - Wella Brilliance Shampoo Fine to Normal. Brilliance Conditioner Fine to Normal. Sebastian Thickefy Foam.
Step 1: Pre-lighten with Wella Blondor Cream Lightener and 20 volume in foils. Foils were placed back to back in fine slices. The lightener was brought down to the line of demarcation. Process to a level 10.
Step 2: Tone with Wella Innosense Hair Color: 1 part 10/88 to 3 parts 10/0 with Pastel Developer. Process for 15 minutes then rinse with cool water.
Step 3: Treat with Wella Service Color Post Treatment.
NOTE: I use the full head back to back foil technique (which some call a "Platinum Card") in tandem with one of my apprentices. This cuts the time of the service in half and allows me to start with 20 volume in my lightener. If I was working alone I would start with 1.9 % (4Volume).
