Hairdressers are the kings and queens of making up words. The ombre "craze" may be softening, but most colorists and clients agree it is a pretty perfect and practical design.

Ombre has morphed into sombre (soft ombre) and now color melt (the more gentle variation that has more color closer to the root, melting down to more solid ends).
