The men arrived early for prep at Hairdressers Helping Hairdressers benefit. We were there as Mark Debolt interviewed Phillip Ferreira as he gave Modern Publisher Steve Reiss a messy cut.

Sometimes creating an "uncut cut" is more difficult that creating a clean, classic finish. Phillip Ferreria, winner of the Wella Trend Vision "Color" category, felt he was up to the challenge when presented with Modern's Publisher, Steve Reiss. We were all backstage prepping for the Hairdressers Helping Hairdressers fundraiser and he volunteered to tweak Steve's cut.

"It's hard to maintain the cut of a client with longer hair," says Phillip. "The consultation is key. Steve wants to keep it long, but wants to add some texture." The most important point, adds Phillip, is to break up any blunt lines. "By point cutting, you will leave length but remove bulk. The bonus is you get additional texture."
