When we saw this makeover on Instagram, we had to know more. Hairdresser Nicole Boccio of Cactus Salon and Spa (@cactussalonsmithtown), Smithtown, New York, says "I had been doing a doubled processed blonde on client Kelly for some time now. She came requesting 'mermaid hair'. She had 2 inches of level 5 roots."
Here Boccio shares the details for this makeover:
Session 1: Apply Joico Cobalt Blue over everything. "I purposely left gold pieces out knowing that those pieces would come up teal and the light pieces would be 'blue blue' creating dimension."
Session 2: "The next time I saw Kelly she wanted to have a short haircut and back to her natural color. She came in with 2 inches of level 5 root."
Step 1: Begin by placing the hair in a pony tail and cutting just below the desired length.
Step 2: Remove the mermaid color. Apply Joico Eraser and rinse. At the sink fill the hair with Wella Color Touch 7.03 and 6 volume for 20 minutes. Dry completely.
Step 3: Apply Aloxxi Tones 5n with 6 volume from roots to ends and process for 30 minutes.
