The Blonde That POPS!

Kelsey Chlopecka (@kelseychlopeckahair) of Adore Hair Studio of Inman Park, Atlanta, Georgia, was there to help out her client using balayage, her specialty. This new client came to Chlopecka (a referral) looking to brighten up her blonde. “She wanted something to POP,” says Chlopecka who points out that blonde hair "tends to get to a point where there is no more dimension or 'shadow'. When all the hair is the same color, it loses brightness, no matter how blonde it is. Most of the time girls come to me and say they feel like their blonde is dull or lifeless. I use level 8/9 to create a sort of backdrop for the blonde to fall against. It's sort of like when you contour your face, you use the darker color to make the highlighter pop. So I paint on a section of bleach, and directly underneath it paint a panel of a level 8/9.  It creates a 'shadow' or background for the blonde to contrast with without looking stripy." Adds Chlopecka, “I just love to do beautiful hair!”

Here she shares the formula:

Step 1: Using a balayage technique, paint on Wella Blondor with 40 volume developer and Olaplex.

Step 2: Strategically place shadows or lowlights next to the highlights, using Wella Color Touch 9/16. This will add dimension.

Step 3: Process for 15 minutes under heat. Shampoo and condition the hair.
