THE FIX: Her First Professional Experience

Gabrielle Frosinos (@sirengabrielle) of Siren Salon, Vancouver, Washington, posted this transformation and we had to know more. "This was her first time getting her hair done professionally," says Frosinos. "She was the vicitm of box color her entire life. I was so excited. She wanted something warm but natural with subtle dimension." Frosinos decided to give her the pro touch:

Prepare formulas:

A. BASE COLOR: Joico Vero K-Pak, equal parts 6G and 7B blended with 15 volume Veroxide (mix 10 and 20 volume to create 15 volume).

B. LIGHTENER: Wella Blondor with 10 volume (for the back), 20 volume (for the sides), and 25 volume (for the top).

C. ENDS: Joico Equal parts of 6B and 7G and 10 volume developer.

D. TONER: Joico Vero K Pack Chrome N9/V9 and G9, 2:1 with Chrome Activator

STEP 1: Section the hair in 5 sections. A mohawk, both sides of her head (coming from in front of the ear back up towards the back corner of the mohawk section) and two quadrants in the back of the head.

STEP 2: Start color application in the back left by outlining the quadrant with my base color.

STEP 3: Then go into the first section and apply baby fine slice and apply the base color to the drop out, focusing on her regrowth.

STEP 4: Foil the remaining hair of that subsection using Blondor and 10 volume. Repeat these steps throughout keeping in mind the shape of her head and angling sections accordingly.

STEP 5: Around the hairline use even smaller sections but switch from slices to very fine weaves.

STEP 6: Once I was finished with retouch and highlights, go in and apply formula C to the ends of the hair left outside the foils.

STEP 7: Process for 25 more minutes. "I wanted the color I applied on her ends to be a little bit lighter than her regrowth to give a more dimensional sombre look." Shampoo with Davines Minu Shampoo. Towel dry.

STEP 8: Tone with formula D. Process for 7 minutes. Rinse and condition with Davines Love Smooth Conditioner. Finish with a cut and style with Pureology Color Fanatic Leave In Treatment, Davines This is a Volume Boosting Mousse, and Kenra Dry Texture Spray.
