Earn money with your expert recommendations on Amazon.com. Learn how!
In the world of retail, e-commerce is changing everything. More and more people are going online for purchases of everything from socks to headphones to pet food. Brick and mortar destinations remain the places to experience products, but not always the place to complete the transaction. And salons are not exempt.
If you think e-commerce is out of the realm of reality for selling the retail products you love and recommend to your clients, think again! Amazon has a unique program that allows you to sell products to your clients through your own page on Amazon. The program is called Amazon Local Associates, and it’s free to sign up. Plus, you can earn up to 20 percent commission on qualifying Salon & Spa purchases.
Here's what you need to know:
Signing up is simple. Salon owners and independent contractors can sign up using their email address, business tax ID number and business address. Your ID will be validated in two to three business days, then you’ll get access to Amazon’s Local Associate online portal. There, you’ll be guided through everything required to create your recommendations page. Need help? There is a resource center with videos, articles and other helpful content to help you get started. There are also customer service agents available to help you over the phone or email.
It’s easy for clients to find your page online. You’ll receive a snappy orange marketing card that displays a QR code and a URL address. Display the card on your station or share it with your clients. Get creative! Some stylists place their Local Associates URL at the bottom of their receipts, for example, or make it part of their personal website or social media marketing. Bottom line—if your client has a mobile phone or computer, she can get to your Amazon retail site.
You can offer as many products as you like without physically stocking them. Space is tight in most salons, but with the Amazon Local Associates program, space is not an issue. You can recommend any product that is sold on Amazon. Recommend the best shampoo or hairspray for your client and she can order it any time from your Amazon page. You earn up to 20 percent commission when a client makes a qualifying purchase of professional beauty products, and currently there are thousands.
You can refine and organize your page. Add your logo. Edit your salon name. Add a bio and share buttons for social media. Group products by category—shampoos and conditioners, styling products and skin care products, for example. Add personalized comments to individual products to support your recommendations. (“This styling cream is the best I’ve found for controlling frizzy hair!”)
Real-time reporting helps you manage your business. You can view data on clicks, items ordered, items shipped, and conversion rates from browsing to purchases any time of the day and night. After enrolling, you receive your first commission 60 days after the first purchase is made, and every 30 days thereafter.
Ready to upgrade your retailing game? Explore the benefits of being an Amazon Local Associate. After all, Amazon has mastered getting products to customers efficiently and effectively. So why not partner with the best?
