TRANSFORMATION: Adding Depth To A Sombre

Gabriel Samra (@gabrielsamra) of Gabriel Samra Hair Salon, Miami, Florida, felt his client was getting too blonde. She "has been progressively becoming blonde by doing ombré, then some balayage highlights. This last time she came to visit me, which was four months from her last visit, I decided to give her a new look because I was noticing that she wasn't taking proper care of her hair and the blonde was washing her face out." Samra decided a deeper, more natural sombre was the way to go, creating what he describes as "a very sexy and natural look that goes with her skin color."

Here Samra shares the HOW TO for this process that took 5 hours and cost the client $390.

Step 1: Address her level 3 new growth with Pravana color 7.11, blended with 10 volume developer, covering new growth and blending it about 2 more inches of the old base.
Step 2: Lowlight foils with Pravana 7.31 with 10 volume to add depth in different sections of the head. Simultaneously, hand paint pieces throughout the crown section with 30 volume developer. Add single pieces in the front for a delicate lighter effect around the face.
Step 3: Process for 25 minutes. Shampoo.
Step 4: Tone with Pravana  6.23 with Zero Lift developer.  "This will only deposit color adding tons of shine throughout." Process for 15 minutes. Rinse and condition.
Step 5:  Cut the hair in long layers in the back and shorter ones in the front.  Blow dry and style with some soft curls.
