"This client came to me with fusions in her hair," says Natasha Castillo (@classysassysalontx) of the Classy and Sassy Salon, Plano, Texas. "I removed them and this is the damage it caused. Her hair used to be in great shape but between the over processing/heat damage/and lack of knowledge in how to care for the extensions and her hair, she ended up with what you see in the before image."
Castillo admits that this transformation was a challenge, taking 5 hours from start to finish. "The consult is the time to discuss realistic expectations," she adds. "I told her what needed to be done in regards to proper care and maintenance and did a test with a row of Klix Hair Extensions to see if her hair could handle it. We then concluded she was a candidate for the hair extensions. We decided to change her color as well." 3 different shades of extensions were used: one highlight and 2 different lowlight shades.
Here Castillo offers the HOW TO:
Step 1: Apply an Olaplex treatment to prepare/strengthen the hair and mend the bonds within the hair.
Step 2: On dry hair do a partial highlight. Blend Schwarzkopf Igora Vario Blond lightener blended with 25 volume developer then after mixing add 1/4 olaplex.
Step 3: While processing, spray the Keune Protein Spray to even the porosity-In between her foils.
Step 4: At the new growth apply Keune color 1/2 6.00 and 1/2 6.03 with 20 volume.
Step 5: Then apply from mid shaft to ends: 1/3 5 and 2/3 6.03 with 10 volume ( I mixed a little darker for her mid shaft to ends because she was so blonde in certain places)
Step 6: Process for 30 minutes, watching the highlights to make sure the desired level was achieved.
Step 7: Rinse and apply with the second part of the Olaplex treatment. Process for 20 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition the hair.
Step 8: Blow dry and smooth out the hair with a round brush. Apply Klix Hair Extensions, blend the hair with the extensions, and then curl it.
"She cried as she saw it- she told me she had low expectations and didn't think it would be possible to get it to look this good and she had her confidence back!" Castillo shares that this is why she loves what she does.
