TRANSFORMATION: Old Box Color To Purple Sombre

Alexis Ciara (@LexiCiara22) is an artist at Beautiful Hair Color Studio, Port Orange, Florida.  "My love for hair started young, but was never seen as an actual career when talking about future plans with family," says Ciara. "Against my better judgment I took their advice and began attending Fordham University in NYC. A year later, although an honor student, I moved out, dropped out and decided to pursue my real passion... Hair! I am obsessed with making people feel confident because it was something I always struggled with as a kid. In this industry, the moment you stop learning, you are already behind."

Here Ciara shares the backstory and the HOW TO for this beautiful transformation we found on her Instagram page:

"This first time client had been growing out old box color to try to gain back the integrity of her hair.  She wanted to have to have something more edgy but 'nothing crazy' because she is also a mom. We decided a purple sombre would be her best option...a pop of edgy color, low maintenance, and avoiding bleach at all costs."

Step 1: For the base, apply Sens.Us color 4.71 with 10 volume developer. Begin at the root and feather down about 3 inches, starting at the nape and moving up in diagonal back sections.

Step 2: To create the sombre, blend two different formulas; Pravana Vivids in violet, and Sens.Us 6.71 & 7.5 with 20 volume developer. Starting in the back sections, alternate the 2 formulas, using a hand painting technique placing according to the flow of the hair and the desired outcome.

Step 3: Process for 25 minutes and then shampoo and condition.
