Genai Canale (@Belovedhairstudio) of the Butterfly Loft Salon is dedicated to "keeping up my education and have taken courses from Matrix, Wella, Sebastian and Sassoon Academy to name but a few." When we saw this gorgeous silver/gray finish on Instagram we tracked down Canale to learn more:

"My client, Rachel, is a young, aspiring director," says Canale. "She wanted a fresh look for 2015. She told me she wanted to be a 'Silver Fox'. She had never really experimented with hair color before except for some highlighting. She is a natural level 2."

Here Canale shares the HOW TO which took about 6 hours from start to finish:

Step 1: Balayage from three to four inches off the root in three separate applications using Wella Blondor. The first application, in the back, is done with 30 volume.

Step 2: Blend into the sides, lifting the volume to 40 volume.

Step 3: Process for 40 minutes and then shampoo.

Step 4: Rpeat with a second and third application, processing for 40 minutes each time.  Add Olaplex to the third application.

Step 5: Apply 6A/8A Gloss Sync by Matrix starting at root and painting down 6 inches.

Step 6: Apply Joico's Color Intensity Titanium to the rest of the hair. Process according to the manufacturers instructions. Shampoo and dry the hair.

Step 7: Go in with a second application from root to end with the Titanium shade.

Step 8: Process according to the manufacturers instructions and then shampoo, condition and style.
