Kristi Waldrop (@Kristi_Mac_of_Hair) a Stylist/Makeup Artist at Head Rush Salon in Gonzales, Louisiana says, "I had the great privilege to intern under Rickey Zito, better known as @hairgod_zito. Not many people can say they got to learn from one of the best in the biz! At Head Rush Salon we are one big family motivating each other daily. We all have the same passion and that’s HAIR! I love what I do and I love our team and feel extremely blessed to be able to get to live out my passion."
Waldrop exercised her passion on this first time client who came to see her after checking out her Instagram page. "She initially showed me a picture of just all over dark purple. I consulted with her explaining how adding different shades would give her more dimension and all around a more custom one of a kind color that would be all her own. At that point she told me that she trusted me and gave me full freedom to create the different tones and shades that I did to achieve the final outcome."
Here Waldrop shares the HOW TO:
Formulas:
Keune bleach + 20 volume developer + 1/4 oz. of Olaplex
Custom blend using Arctic Fox Hair Color:
Formula 1) 20g Purple Rain + 5g Violet Dream + 1 Drop of Aquamarine
Formula 2) 20g Violet Dream + 30g Arctic Mist
Formula 3) 20g Violet Dream + 5g Sunset Orange
Application:
Step 1: Lighten hair using the top lightening formula.
Step 2: Section Hair into your four basic quadrants
Step 3: Apply the formula 1 at the new growth, formula 2 through the mid-length, and formula 3 through the ends to created a soft gradient of shadows
Step 4: Process for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water then shampoo and condition with Jellua Squid Ink Active Shampoo and Jellua Squid Ink Repair Treatment Cream.
Step 5: Apply Kevin Murphy "Smooth Again" and Kevin Murphy "Hair Resort" to hair when wet. Blow dry and style as desired
TIPS:
When creating vivid colors, always want to lift the hair to a pretty pale yellow before application of vibrant shades.
When applying Fashion colors saturation is a must!! If you do not take your time on the application your end result will look splotchy.
Use Kevin Murphy "Fresh hair" (dry shampoo) to spread out washes. The less you wash your hair, the longer the color will last.
Touch-Ups: Clients come 6-8 weeks after their hair is colored for touch ups.
