Six hours and many in-the-moment adjustments created this gorgeous transformation from Gabby Vigorito, a stylist in Branford, CT.

"She is a new client to me,” explains Vigorito.  “Her roots are a virgin level 5, her midshaft has permanent color, and her ends were previously balayaged by another stylist. You can see in the ‘before’ picture her color was very warm and her goal was to be ashy.”

STEP ONE:  Started with Wella Lightener 10 volume. Sectioned out over her part and clipped out her sides.

STEP TWO:  Up the back, used the 3D balayage technique.

Took thick weaves leaving minimal hair in between and that weave was the only hair left out in between sections.

With each section, feathered up to soften the line of demarcation. When reaching the application of the top section, bumped it up to 20 volume.

STEP THREE: Used Redken Shades EQ 6N and toned down her in between hair to give her some nice dimension. Used a level 6 because her ends were very porous (didn’t want them to soak up too dark).

STEP FOUR: Client went under heat and processed for a while.

“When I checked on how she was lifting, there was a band of color that wasn’t lifting as well as her virgin and previously lightened ends (obviously because of the permanent color) so I went back in, opened every foil and tapped the band of color with fresh 20 volume, then let that process under heat.”

STEP FIVE: Once she was ready to be rinsed, brought her to the sink and pulled the foils.

Pre-toned with Oligos Blue Shampoo then sat her up and brushed her out.

STEP SIX:  Root smudged with Redken Shades EQ 4N. Allowed that to sit and toned her blonde with 9P from Shades EQ.

STEP SEVEN: Blended colors together with the W.O.W. Comb.

“To finish her off, I gave her a fresh cut, blowout and style! I’m so obsessed with the transformation and the client was extremely happy!”
