Spray Is in the Air

Finally, I sense a turn in our hair fashions. Could just me, but does anybody else catch the smell of hairspray in the air? Hairdressing, as in moving the hair with purpose, placing it in a desired form, and spraying it to keep it there---that’s what I mean.

Finally, I sense a turn in our hair fashions. Could just be me, but does anybody else catch the smell of hairspray in the air? Hairdressing: as in moving the hair with purpose, placing it in a desired form, and spraying it to keep it there---that’s what I mean.

For many seasons, the flat iron has reigned and, although the styles look very “today,” my eye constantly travels to a twist or turn in someone’s hair. I think it all began two years ago when braids were re-introduced. The word “deconstructed” was coined as a messy version of the braid. We then all began deconstructing everything and doing a somewhat new version of hairdressing. Next, the fabulous Ann Bray creates the amazing rose style showcased in the Hunger Games movie. Add Australia’s Sharon Blaine whose DVD’s have brought cutting edge hairdressing techniques to many.

I invite you to join me at IBS NY  March 9-11, I will be giving you my version of the new updo’s and long hair styles in a three-hour workshop. Now, we won’t have time to try a “rose”—but, that’s not really the hair I want to show you this time. I want to show you quick, easy, and trendy styles you can create in under 10 minutes in the salon. See photos.

On Tuesday, March 11, I turn my total attention to beauty school instructors with the launch of my new program for schools, i-Fabulous Salon Success. This is a revitalizer concept for all schools encouraging the use of technology, social media, personal branding and the essential job entry skills given to me after two years of research with the salon industry. Together, let’s do something about the vast number of students that leave our industry just one year after graduation with a huge loan to pay off. I could write a book on the topic. Actually I am working on it, but don’t hold your breath.

I plan to have a blast during 2014—and in New York. I totally know and believe we create our luck, we create our future. I see your future, and it’s fabulous. Go for it.

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You
