Hair painting specialist Madison Carlisle (@hairbymadisoncarlisle) of The Exchange, Flushing, Michigan, embraces her "passion to help women achieve their hair dreams while still keeping the hair beautiful and strong - just like they are!" MODERN was impressed with this makeover and asked for more details. Here she shares:
"My natural level 8 client came in had grown out foiled highlights with a brassy tone. Her desire was to be as light as she could with more of a balayage look."
Step 1: Paint throughout the hair (in classic balayage) to the front using equal parts Redken Flashlift with 20v with a little bit of Olaplex "to ensure the health of the hair."
Step 2: At the front place the color using a teasing and foilyage technique.
Step 3: At the hairline "to give her the pop and brightness right around the face", apply the same formula but in babylights with a "money piece" the the parting. Process for 20 minutes and then rinse.
Step 4: Apply a mixture of Redken Shades EQ; 1 oz. 9T, 1 oz. 9V with processing solution for about 3-5 minutes.
Step 5: Finish with an Olaplex No. 2 treatment for 20 minutes. Rinse.
"I was so excited to see how even and how light her hair turned out while still keeping the health of her hair as my number one priority."
