Towering and tousled, this upstyle provides an alluring blend of glamour and sass. Created by Farouk Systems Global Artistic Board Members, Patrick Kalle and Maurice Den Exter, the look is adaptable for any occasion—from an intimate tete-a-tete to a roof-raising rave!
“My inspiration for this look came from the music that was playing, it was a tune from the group Muse… a little rock and high fashion,” said Den Exter.
STEP 1: Create triangular sections around the head, with the point of each triangle originating at the crown. Clip each section to secure.
STEP 2: Spray a small section with CHI Infra Texture Dual Action Hairspray and curl with a 1” CHI Orbit Styling Wand. Secure with clip. Continue to curl the sections from front to back.
STEP 3: Let the hair cool for five minutes. Remove the clips and comb through the hair with a wide tooth comb. Finish with CHI Shine Infusion.
STEP 4: Backcomb the hair in the direction of the sectioning. Start with the top and side sections. Continue with the back section leaving a 1 inch section in the nape area untouched.
STEP 5: Mist all of the hair in between the backcombed sections with CHI Infra Texture Dual Action Hairspray. Gently brush the hair upward, from nape to front, to smooth the surface.
STEP 6: Take an elastic band and create a loose ponytail. Brush the sides to the back and secure with a bobby pin underneath the ponytail to hide the band. Brush the ponytail and hair towards the front on top of the head.
STEP 7: Create a wave on top using the 1” CHI Orbit Styling Wand. Continue to curl small sections from the top in opposite directions. Spray with CHI Infra Texture Dual Action Hairspray.
STEP 8: Take the loose section in the nape area and comb over the ponytail securing with a bobby pin. To secure the style spray CHI Helmet Head Hairspray.
