Whoever said brunettes had less fun clearly never saw colorist Jamie Mullenax's hair color work done through her mobilebeautybyjamie.com in Los Angeles. We are LOVING this beautiful finish. How'd she catch our attention? She uploaded the pic to Instagram, tagged @modernsalon, and used #hairdressermagic—MODERN's favorite way to see the best in hair color!

Here's how she did it:

On previously colored level 5 ash brown hair, she began with an allover color using 1 oz. Matrix SoColor in DA-504 dark red brown Color with 1 oz. Matrix SoColor in HD copper and 3 oz. of 20-volume developer.

"Starting in the crown area, I created zig-zag partings, pulled down a 1/4-inch piece of hair every 1/2 inch for highlights using 1 oz. of Matrix VLight powder lightener with 20 volume developer," she says. "I separated the highlights with traditional foiling, creating three rows of zigzag highlights."

Her hair was processed for 20 minutes until the highlights were at the desired level, no toning required.
