How to Show Clients that Safety is Your Highest Priority

As salons move toward reopening, it will be important to show both your team and your clients that health and safety is one of your highest concerns. You now can demonstrate your dedication to providing a safe, clean environment for your clientele by becoming a Barbicide Certified Safe Service Establishment, while supporting the Professional Beauty Association's COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The BARBICIDE Certified Safe Service Establishment program was developed to ensure that establishments adhere to safe service practices. Proper infection control is crucial to the health and safety of both the clients and the professionals performing the services.

BARBICIDE, in existence since 1947, is an industry standard for infection control products. They developed this certification for salons, spas and barbershops which requires the establishment to adhere to a set of over 20 standards in order to maintain proper infection control. Some of those standards include all non-porous implements being cleaned and disinfected prior to use; all single use items disposed of after use; all employees performing hand hygiene before and after each service and more. In addition, all employees must have passed the Barbicide Certification  class for individuals for the salon to receive its credential.

Through a partnership with Beauty Cast Network, a job search and education company exclusive to the beauty industry, certified establishments will receive a personalized printable certificate plus a digital credential that can be shared on websites and through social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and more. This gives the establishments a way to publicly show their commitment to the safety of their clients and employees. Certified Establishments will also be added to the "Safe Service Establishment Finder" on the Barbicide website directing clients who seek a safe experience to a Certified establishment.

In addition, 20% of the $30 annual certification fee will be donated to the COVID-19 Relief Fund administered by the Professional Beauty Association. The relief fund provides money for individual beauty professionals who have been impacted by the pandemic.
