Emma Hancock (@masterpiecehair) of Moriah Brandons, Altamonte Springs Fl., is looking to build her vivids clientele, and with transformations like this, we think she has a good shot. Here she shares the story about one of her favorite clients. "Thuy's hair is an ongoing project. We are constantly pushing boundaries each time with her hair. Yesterday she came in and we wanted to change it up a bit. It's been 13 weeks since her last root touch up."
Hancock and Thuy (a natural level 2,) started this project about a year and a half ago, taking it slowly so as to not ruin her hair. "Her hair started as solid Pravana Violet which was too blue," says Hancock. "It took a lot of mixing to figure out the perfect purple formula. We have pulled through the lightener a few times to really get a true gray lavender on the ends. Thuy takes very good care of her hair, only washing 2 times a week and only with salon products."
Here Hancock shares the HOW TO:
Step 1: Apply Wella Blondor with 35 volume developer and Olaplex to the 2 inches of new growth.
Step 2: Then pull through in some areas with apply Wella Blondor with 20 volume and Olaplex. Process for 55 minutes (the last 15 under heat lamp,) lifting to level 9.
Step 3: Rinse and apply step 2 Olaplex for 10 minutes. Shampoo, condition and dry completely.
Step 4: Apply to the root area: Pravana Vivids 2 parts Wild Orchid to 1 part Violet, feathering it out about two inches.
Step 5: Alternate the following formulas in a geometric sectioning melting from the root shade (separated with Sweet Meche):
A: 2 parts Joico Titanium, 1 part clear and a drop of Cobalt Blue
B: Pravana Vivids 2 parts Luscious Lavender, 1 part clear and one inch Wild Orchid
C: 2 parts Joico Titanium, 1 part Pravana Vivids Luscious Lavender
Step 6: Process for 20 minutes at room temperature. Shampoo and condition with cold water using Pureology Hydrate.
