It’s fall, ya’ll! Clients are deepening their summer shades with rich tones.

In this formula from Kimberly Bonondona, a blonde and balayage specialist (@hairby_kimberlyy) in Staten Island, New York, she converts a natural level-3 with old yellow-y highlights to the perfect fall shade she calls Cold Brew. As any coffee aficionado would note, just like a shot of espresso, there are multiple layers of rich "flavor" in this formula: the heart, the body and the crema.

She began by using Schwarzkopf Igora lightener and 30-volume and thick teasy lights and weave sections.

“I left about 2 inches of her natural in between for dimension,” says Bonondona, who has only been doing hair for four years but already is a master at the balayage, colormelt effect. “I let that sit for about 25-30 minutes until it reached a level 6. Then I applied Wella 3n to the root and combed through and let that sit for about 5 minutes.”

She then toned the whole head with Itely Hairfashion's Colorly Delyton 5CP and a little 4CP.

“CP is a chili pepper color,” she says. “I left that for 15 minutes. Then I put in a little Moroccanoil and blow dried it and curled with my Babyliss 1-inch iron. I finished with spraying Schwarzkopf Osis Shine Spray.”

When she posted this image on Instagram, it wasn't long before the world took notice--she's already been featured on Cosmopolitan, Allure, InStyle, Glamour and Refinery 29. Get ready! It won't be long before you start getting requests for Cold Brew color!
