
Rodrick Samuels on The Silent Work, Modern Beauty Education and Why Empathy Wins

Announcing the winners of 2014's live Wella International Trend Vision Awards in Frankfurt, Germany!































Hairdressers and media from all around the world traveled to Frankfurt to celebrate with Wella Professionals at the International Trend Vision Awards (ITVA) as 82 talented finalists from 56 countries came together at the Hairworld exhibition to showcase hairdressing excellence.
This year also included a PHOTO Vision competition in addition to the incredible LIVE catwalk presentation, which allowed Wella to recognize more hairdressers with a new ‘Platinum’ series of award – the top honor presented at this year’s ITVA. Each competition, PHOTO Vision and LIVE Vision, held two categories: the Young Talent Award for styling excellence and the Color Award for outstanding talent in hair coloring.

The Winners
This year in the LIVE Vision competition the Young Talent Platinum Award was won by Kriz Chen from Hair Culture in Taiwan and the Color Platinum Award by Iryna Fraiuk from Kodokan in Ukraine.
On receiving a Platinum award, Kriz Chen winner of the LIVE Vision Young Talent Platinum Award, was overcome with excitment, “This has been an unbelievable experience for me and I have loved every minute of it. I am so grateful to Wella for this amazing opportunity.”
Iryna Fraiuk winner of the LIVE Vision Color Platinum Award, added, “I am so happy, I wish today could last forever. It is such an honor to win this world event for Ukraine.”
In the PHOTO Vision category Karina Grace Gollins from Karina Grace Hairdressing in New Zealand won the Young Talent Gold Award and Tamás Fehér from hair’s[ku:l] in Hungary won the Color Gold Award.
The Jury
The jury (judges) for the ITVA awards was composed of an expert panel made up of the two Wella Global Creative Directors, Eugene Souleiman and Josh Wood, six international top stylists and two media representatives. The competition was hosted by Patrick Cameron, international celebrity stylist.
Eugene Souleiman, Wella Professionals Global Creative Director, Care and Styling who led the Young Talent Award jury commented, “There was a phenomenal level of talent demonstrated at the 2014 International Trend Vision Awards. We are incredibly proud of all of our finalists, in particular our Platinum winners who represent outstanding levels of skill and innovation in our profession.”
Josh Wood, Wella Professionals Global Creative Director, Color and head of the Color Award jury added, “Our LIVE Vision Color Platinum Award Winner, Iryna Fraiuk’s look was particularly inspiring to me. Their use of color was incredibly sophisticated and showed use that with a little imagination and a lot of creativity, anything is possible.”
Entries were judged on their technical expertise and creative vision; the understanding of the trend; and the innovation and skill in their color work and styling abilities.
The ITVA event opened with the inspirational Parade of Nations – one of the many highlights of the spectacular show which saw every hairdresser take to the stage with his or her country’s flag in a fantastic display of global talent. Then the Bronze, Silver and Gold winners of the PHOTO Vision competition were announced, followed by an incredible show by Bundy Bundy from Austria.
The audience was wowed by a catwalk show of all the LIVE competition entries, showcasing the hairdressing industry’s best up-and-coming styling skill and color creativity, which was continued with a spectacular AW’14 trend show by Russian top stylist Dimitry Vinokurov, before the final award ceremony revealed the talented Platinum award winners.
