Schwarzkopf Professional’s BLONDME, a lightener and color for blondes, has revealed its latest collaboration with the American toy company and global icon, Barbie. The latest partnership combines BLONDME with the timeless charm of Barbie for a new collection for professional stylists and hair colorists looking to deliver subtle sun-kissed hues from light to platinum.

The brand released two limited-edition professional hair care kits — BLONDME x Barbie Dream Salon Kit and BLONDME x Barbie Apron Kit — including BLONDME hair coloring products, application tools, and protective gear, designed to add fun to the salon experience while streamlining the blonde hair coloring process. In addition to the new collaboration, BLONDME has also partnered with some of the industry’s top hairstylists and colorists to recreate six classic Barbie looks in an iconic YouTube campaign to showcase a variety of contemporary blonde color-based styles.

YouTube Campaign Inspiration

In celebration of the collaboration, BLONDME has also partnered with six of the industry’s top hair stylists and colorists for a photoshoot to recreate classic Barbie looks and their equally famous hairstyles. Below, the featured artists share the inspiration behind each look:

• 1959 Barbie – Philip Foresto was inspired by one of the 1959 original Barbie dolls, with warm blonde hair and a black and white striped swimsuit.

• Malibu Barbie  – Danilo Bozic kept the ultimate surfer girl look that Malibu Barbie brought in 1971 and added dimension to modernize for today’s California girl!

• Day to Night Barbie – This Barbie arrived on the scene in the 1980s to  women in the workforce  having fun along the way.  Inspired by these qualities, Josie Villay kept the power suit and added modern balayage to her curls.

• Totally Hair Barbie – Emerging in the 1990s with the longest hair ever on Barbie, hairstylist Brendnetta Ashley brought alive by keeping the toe length hair and modernizing it with braids.

• 60th Anniversary Barbie – Barbie celebrated her 60th Anniversary in 2019 and to commemorate this diamond anniversary she donned a glittering white gown with sparkling platinum hair to match. Inspired by this motif, Maggie Phan recreated a sleek ponytail with some modern glamour and waves.

• Barbie Crystal Fantasy – Linh Phan captured the soft lavenders and silvers of this 2021 Barbie and modernized it in a shorter bob haircut.
