Nine Zero One regular Julianne Hough gives us reason to believe that when warm weather rolls around, our clients are better off blonde!

Jill Buck has taken Hough from blonde to red to blonde and beyond. To maintain blonde, specifically, Buck says Hough's salon visits depend on her work in front of the camera.

"If she’s working or on camera a lot, then we do it pretty often because with all of the closeup shots, interviews, and all of that, it needs to be fresh, so we see her at least every five weeks in the salon," Buck says

In between visits, Buck recommends Hough uses Joico's new Defy Damage home care series (especially the Leave-in Protective Shield and the Protective Masque). She also uses Joico's Color Balance Purple Shampoo to tone and keep her blonde color brass-free, switching back and forth between that and Joico's Blonde Life shampoo.

Buck emphasizes because Hough's hair is heat styled so often, anytime that she can just air dry it to give it a break, the better.

For her latest bright-summer-blonde transformation, Buck used Joico Blonde Life Lightening Powder and LumiShine hair color, making sure to tap the color bond-building and protective powers of the brand's NEW Defy Damage.

"Defy Damage is truly the next generation of Bond Building for the hair," she says. "The difference with Defy Damage is that it’s something we do before we even color the hair. So, it all starts at the salon with the service, then your client can take the products home for full benefits and protection from ALL types of damage they do on their own (heat, UV rays, pollution, etc.).

"Using the Pro-Series step 1 is instantly already giving it the strength and protection for your hair bonds, before I ever put the potentially damaging chemicals on. It takes maybe one minute to spray in the hair, and then Step 2 the Pro-Series [treatment] takes only 2-5 minutes in the bowl."

Before getting to work, Buck treated Hough's hair with Defy Damage Bond-Protecting Color Optimizer. And after, she used Defy Damage Bond-Strengthening Color Treatment to seal the bonds.
