The conversation around hair loss, scalp health, and regenerative treatments is no longer confined to clinics and the recent RE:GEN USA Roadshow made that clear.

Produced by DermapenWorld to spotlight its EXO-GROW system, the multi-city tour brought together nearly 1,000 salon, barbering, aesthetics, and medical professionals across stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami. But beyond the product focus, the bigger takeaway was the growing overlap between traditionally separate sectors of the industry.

At each stop, the format leaned into education and collaboration, pairing business strategy with clinical insight. Leading the sessions was Tracey Hughes, Hall of Fame hairstylist and global general manager for EXO-GROW, joined by a cross-disciplinary lineup that included trichologists, stylists, educators, and medical experts.

“We’ve brought science, business and creativity together in a way that empowers salon professionals to think differently, act differently, and ultimately deliver better results for their clients," says Hughes.

That mix of voices reflected a larger shift: salon professionals are increasingly being asked to understand not just hair, but the underlying causes of hair loss—ranging from scalp conditions to medical factors—and how to address them holistically.

A Blending of Beauty and Medical Expertise

One of the strongest themes throughout the tour was the breakdown of silos between industries. Hairdressers, clinic owners, and aesthetic practitioners shared the same stage—and increasingly, the same client concerns.

For salon professionals, that opens up new opportunities, particularly in the fast-growing hair restoration category. Education sessions focused on:

  • Scalp-first approaches to hair growth
  • Consultation strategies rooted in client psychology
  • Service opportunities tied to thinning hair and hair loss
  • The role of emerging technologies, including exosomes

The takeaway: clients are looking for more comprehensive solutions, and salons that can confidently speak to scalp health and hair loss are better positioned to meet that demand.

From Education to Business Opportunity

Beyond the science, the roadshow emphasized practical application—how to translate knowledge into services and revenue.

Attendees were introduced to ways to:

  • Expand service menus with hair loss solutions
  • Strengthen consultation skills
  • Build client trust around sensitive concerns like thinning hair

For many, it reinforced that hair loss is not just a clinical issue—it’s an emotional one, and salons are often the first place clients turn.

A Category Gaining Momentum

The RE:GEN tour also underscored the rapid growth of the regenerative hair care category. EXO-GROW, now available in more than 100 countries, is part of a broader wave of innovation focused on performance-driven, results-oriented treatments.

For salon professionals, the message was clear: understanding scalp health and hair loss is becoming less of a niche and more of a necessity.

As the industry continues to evolve, the lines between beauty, wellness, and medical aesthetics are only getting thinner—and events like this signal where that convergence is headed next.
