As an editor in the beauty industry, I very much believe in, support and acknowledge the power of the future generation of hairdressers—the students. As an actual cosmetology student, I crave, need and very much want information that will help future professionals to succeed in this booming industry!

America’s Beauty Show, produced and owned by Cosmetologists Chicago, gets it too. That’s why Monday, March 14, of America’s Beauty Show is dedicated to students—full of education, seminars, panels and assemblies specifically for future hairdressers!

There are two events specifically that I would love to tell you a bit more about—not only because they will be of immense value to up-and-comers, but because I’m actually participating in the events!

MONDAY, MARCH 14: 8:30am-10am: FREE!
Mondays’ student day will kick off with The 2011 Student Assembly, presenting Beauty Changes Lives of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS)—where spokesperson Ted Gibson will headline the keynote and continue to inspire students outside of What Not to Wear. Be sure to cheer for me when I get up on stage to talk about what my experience as a cosmetology student has been like! : )

Also featured during The Assembly is Yolly ten Koppel of the Pivot Point Artistic Team. The Assembly will peek into upcoming fashion and beauty trends and attendees will walk away with great gifts and products from manufacturers—including copies of the latest issue of First Chair!

MONDAY, MARCH 14: 11am-1pm:
P&G Salon Professional is having its first Student Stylist competition. Students entered the competition with a photo submission of their interpretation of a pre-selected look from the P&G Salon Portfolio and, on Monday, finalists will compete on the show floor for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize, a PGSP Stylist Kit and their choice of an in-school education course taught by a PGSP top educator.

Here are the finalists in the P&G Salon Professional 2011 Student Competition! See the winners live from America’s Beauty Show by logging on to the P&G Salon Professional Virtual Trade Show Event.
