Third-generation barber and Shop MODERN Artist Greg Zorian was at the Andis booth at the International Beauty Show March 9-11 in NYC to give barbering tips, tricks and before-and-afters.
In addition to being a professional barber, Zorian is the founder of online barbering education site HowToCutHair.tv, consultant and manager of Gregory's Barbershops. He's very knowledgeable on how to build a profitable, male clientele and grow a business.
“There is only one way to build a large, profitable clientele, and it’s simple: work hard and lots of hours," Zorian says. He worked a lot of long hours after he opened his first barbershop, but it paid off. Zorian also notes that you should never underestimate the importance of high-quality tools.
“Men’s haircutting is precise and only the best tools will do," Zorian says. "I highly suggest using three clippers: a detachable blade clipper, an adjustable clipper and a finishing clipper. You will also need a larger barbering style shear as well as a tapering/fine thinning shear."
