New NAHA Category: Newcomer Stylist of the Year

The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) has added a new category for 2012: The NAHA Newcomer Stylist of the Year award. To qualify to enter, the entrant must be a licensed cosmetologist with less than three years of professional experience. The new category seeks to recognize a rising talent in the professional hairstyling industry and is meant to bridge the gap between Student Hairstylist of the Year and Hairstylist of the Year. The Most Buzzworthy Looks from the MTV Video Music Awards

The looks at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards were truly headline-worthy. In particular, we noticed Beyoncé’s gorgeous glow as she revealed her pregnancy, witnessed Lady Gaga in drag try to smooch a more subdued Britney Spears, and observed Nicki Minaj walk the red carpet with a cartoon-crazy Dayglo updo. With viewers and the media still buzzing about the show, we got the rundown from Kelly Franiak, stylist/colorist for the past seven years at Salonblonde in Chicago, about her take on the event.

Straight and Sleek Styles at the Teen Choice Awards

Last Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards celebrated the newest generation of Hollywood entertainers as chosen by fans. The nominees and attendees brought fresh energy to the red carpet, but most kept it classic with hair and makeup.
