At the Matrix Imagination Event in January 2011, Logics launched opART, a collection inspired the graphic Optical Art genre that emerged in the 1960s. Led by Matrix Artistic Director Chrystofer Benson, the team interpreted key opART concepts—the illusion of movement, visual tension, contrast and mathematically-based composition—to create the collection. Now, for fall 2011, the team has created a new opART look complete with a new color, cut and design technique to keep the opART energy alive!

As with all Logics imagery, there are three iterations of the look: Pure, Progressive and Uncensored. In these new opART images, a flaming autumnal palette of crimson and ochre are placed for maximum movement in a base of highly polished copper. The core shape is styled in looks that range from simmering (Pure) to smoldering (Progressive) to blazing (Uncensored). Benson and the Logics team have also created a custom stencil that allows stylists to recreate some of the opART effects.

“Logics always looks at hair as a modern art masterpiece,” comments Benson. “opART—with its impressions of movement, vibration, patterning, advancing and receding—is an exciting springboard for exploring new color techniques, shapes and cuts. I hope that stylists enjoy opART Bright as much as we enjoyed creating it!”

The 2011 opART Bright Collection techniques will be available to salons in fall of 2011 on mymatrixfamily.com and through education classes.
