Women In Business: 5 Pieces of Wisdom

Women in Business: 5 Pieces of Wisdom

Kathy Cacciato is President of Katherine Frank Creative, Inc, where she is responsible for managing the company structure and igniting initiatives that have a strong impact in the events industry. Kathy is very passionate about evolving women’s leadership roles not only in the workplace but in her personal life where she sets an example in a household of five and instills these values in the young adults in her Religion class.

Please tell us what being a woman business owner means to you and why you became an entrepreneur in the first place?

KC: I spent 15 years working in a predominantly male industry where very few women were recognized by their talents and it was very frustrating.  When the opportunity presented itself to become an entrepreneur, the timing was perfect.  This gave us the opportunity to be more independent and focus on our clients rather than the bureaucratic administrative paperwork that so often bogs you down when deal with larger corporations.  I felt a need to be able to make financial and management decisions firsthand.

What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?

KC: My father was my inspiration.  We worked in the same industry for many years, and he encouraged me to take the leap of faith.  He was behind me every step of the way so I always felt confident with his unwavering support.

What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on?

KC: Treat others like you want to be treated.  Every industry is small and your reputation is all you have to stand by.  If you remain true to yourself and treat vendors and clients with respect, they in turn will treat you with the same respect.  I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around!

Do you have any new projects coming up (or have you just completed a big project, reached a milestone, etc.) If so, please share with us:

KC: We are in the midst of celebrating our 20th year in business, which is a milestone that I couldn’t be more proud of.  When I look back at the ups and downs throughout the past 20 years, I see the good fortune we have been given.  Recently, we have expanded into event management and consulting within the beauty industry which is a great way to share our knowledge that we have gained through the years.

What is number one business goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?

KC: Expand on a strong, long term management structure within our company so we are able to continue to develop our portfolio and services. Outside of the company, I expect my daughters to take advantage of all the resources available to young people today who are just starting down their career path. I read this great quote and thought it conveyed the perfect blend of values: “The glass ceiling that once limited a woman’s career path has paved a new road towards business ownership, where women can utilize their sharp business acumen while building strong family ties.” – Erica Nicole, YFS Magazine.
