The Avant Garde category features visionary work that demonstrates new or experimental concepts in expressive, cutting-edge hair. Entries reflected good taste and aesthetically pleasing images. This was not a fantasy category but a display of fashion forward, unique and edgy styles.
The Master Stylist category is designed to allow the biggest names in the industry to compete with one another. Entrants are top platform artists, educators, artistic directors and previous Hairstylists of the Year who submit five images of a collection exemplifying best work.
Vivienne Mackinder and Nicholas French are hosting Icons & Legends , a two-day immersive workshop in Palm Springs, CA. Held Aug. 6-7 at the Nicholas French Skyfall Academy.
Inspired by elements found in "The Wilderness," 90% of the hair used for this collection was taken from clippings on the salon floor of Stevie English Salons. Creator and avant garde specialist Shaun McGrath focuses on sustainable hairdressing, and this is just one example of his work. “I wanted every piece to sit beautifully and seamlessly in the environment which it was inspired by.”
